I am doing my first blog hop. I hope it goes well. I am still new at blogging and have not quite gotten the hang of it.
Wish me luck! It is a Blog Review and I need some suggestions to make my blog better. I really like it but do you? So look around and let me know what you do like and what you think I cold do better. I really appreciate your feedback.
I DO know that my grab button is not working quite right. I have gone to several sites for tutorials and each time it gets better but still not quite right.
Special thanks to the following two ladies for hosting this blog hop! Gail @My Repurposed Life and MeganDVD @ Beauty in the Attempt are hosting “The Bold and the Beautiful-your blog reviewed”.
You are welcome to join the party, it starts Thursday night and is open for a week.
Tina-Thank you so much for joining in our blog hop!
ReplyDeleteReally glad you added the code to your post!
I would love to see you move your "about me" up farther, closer to the top.
I love your layout, it's easy on my eyes! No music is always a plus! :)
I think it's really important to keep your readers on your page by having your links open in a new window. If you would like info on how to do that, shoot me an email, and let me know if you blog in blogger or windows live writer.

You are a "no-reply" blogger which means that when you leave a comment on someone's blog, they are unable to reach you to respond. To fix that go to
DASHBOARD
EDIT PROFILE
SHOW MY EMAIL ADDRESS (check that box)
You may want to get a free e-mail @yahoo or @gmail just for your blog, and make the email the same name as your blog.
I barely found your blog roll, I suggest that you move that- you have room on the side to add that for sure.
Looks like you're new to blogging, but really looks like you've started off on the right track!
I am only an email away, so if you ever need any help, just let me kmnow!
gail
Tina, I think it helps to add pictures to the blog. You can add it to your header. I also think it helps to put a picture of you on the sidebar.
ReplyDeleteIf you go to my blog, (which is the same background) you will see what I mean. To go to my blog, click on my name above this comment. It will take you directly to it. If that doesn't work the web address is: http://jewelsightings.blogspot.com
I've added tabs under my header to keep things a bit tidier on the blog.
It's easy to have lots of stuff on the side bar. I have also added a subscribe from feedburner. It allows people to sign up for your blog via their email address. They will get an email notifying them every time you post a new post.
The best way to get people to your blog is to visit other blogs....
Hope this helps some!
Julie
Hi Tina! You are up and running and doing awesome! Gail took care of the techie stuff, so so keep up the good work! I'm gonna steal your button for my sidebar!
ReplyDeleteGreat Job! I really enjoy your posts, and love your pics! Simple, and easy to read, can't beat that!!
ReplyDeleteHello my dear! I am thrilled that you took a big risk and jumped into the party. For someone so new to the blog world, I think you have a great start. I am all about showcasing you as the 1st thing on the right. Move yourself and show everyone whose corner of the blog world this is...after that...put your followers. I love to immediately follow so hunting for the followers sometimes sidetracks your bloggers visiting.
ReplyDeleteOnce again these are just gentle thoughts. I know that taking a risk and putting yourself out there is very scary, but you should feel so proud and empowered. I hope that you are not a no-reply when dealing with comments. I always love being able to respond to my bloggers. Also...if you need anything, Gail and I would love to help. Just let us know what we can do. :)
Have a great finish to the weekend, and I hope this is the beginning of seeing more of you in little blog world. :)
Cheers~

Tina -
ReplyDeleteWhat a unique blog. I immedietly connected to you because my mom homeschooled to as well! Here is what I would suggest:
Make the tie dye image at the top a little small, so part of your 1st post will still show when you reader makes it to your page.
Maybe consider some tabs at the top of your blog for people to find specific information. For example, an "About Me" page would be great to give information that you already have in the sidebar. You can even make a page for your husband's book.
I would also love to see your "About Me" blurb and "Blog Archive" closer to the top.
I hope these help! Blogging is so fun and exciting.
Heather
I think your blog is great, bright and colorful like I would expect a blog to be with tiedye in the name :) Great job.
ReplyDeleteHi Tina!
ReplyDeletepopping in via the blog hop! fun blog with lots of personality! :) would love to see your 'about me' and 'archives' up towards the top of your sidebar.. so peeps can see who you are right away, and see what you've been posting. overall.. great job!
hope to see ya in my random neighborhood sometime!
many blessings,
-Tracie
I love everything about your blog design! Fonts, color, post and comment separations. And I like the header!
ReplyDeleteSUGGESTIONS:
- I think what needs work is just simple fixes of organizing the sidebar. There seems to be some redundancy.
- 'Search this site' section since you have it will be more useful and more $$$ up top.
- I really think a nav bar is also helpful for first time visitors.
Hi Tina, I think your personality and enthusiasm come through immediately:) I was excited to see that you were a homeschooling mom and went looking to see what kind of curriculum you use... perhaps a future post or a special page would be terrific.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the blogging world.
Hi Tina, just getting back to the comments that I got from the Blog Hop. Thank you first off for visiting me! I see you have already moved yourself up to the top, which I was told to do also...I like your blog and love the tie dye. You can by all means use my saying at the bottom of my blog. Anything else, just let me know. Thanks again and I'm your newest follower. Would love some follow back love also!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Denise
I'm never one to give good ideas, because I tend to be drawn to the things I like.
ReplyDeleteI love the background colour. I'm all about the pink!
